About Us

Some of my earliest childhood memories were of my grandmother and mother picking the tender, young shoots of *dandelions to cook for our spring Sunday dinners.  After dinner, we would all spend the afternoon in the back yard enjoying the golden warmth of the sun.  My sister and I would crunch on the tart, juicy *rhubarb from grandma’s patch while our parents and grandma would sip on a glass of sweet, thick *elderberry wine.

No matter what “ailed you” grandma always had a natural cure.  No wonder most of grandma’s side of the family lived until they were around 100 yrs. Old.

In the early 1990s, I started on the path of following my Native American (Abenaki/Mohawk) roots.  I loved the feeling of being at one with mother earth through gardening herbs, flowers, and vegetables.  I started working with Native American elders and gathered knowledge from their wisdom that had been passed down from generation to generation, learning of natural remedies and foods from what most people thought were weeds.

In 1997, Kodiak (Abenaki/Mic Maq) and I met at a summer solstice ceremony in Herkimer , NY .  As the weekend progressed, we found we complimented each other in our knowledge of healing through energy, crystals, and herbs.  In the fall of 1998, Kodiak and I were married in a Native American ceremony at the Alta Vista Buffalo Farm in Rutland , MA .  A short time later we were both studying about herbs through a course by Rosemary Gladstar, a world renowned herbalist.

We regularly attend pow wows throughout the New England area passing on our knowledge and love of herbs, the first medicine.  Since “necessity is the mother of invention” many of our herbal teas come from someone requesting information about a specific ‘dis-ease’ whether it’s high blood pressure or a case of poison ivy.  We research and create herbal teas and products that help to alleviate their symptoms.

“All things are connected like the blood of life that unites us.  We did not weave the web of life; we are merely a strand in it.  Whatever we do to the web we do to ourselves.” Chief Seattle

*Dandelion cleanses the liver and kidneys.

*Rhubarb boosts immune system, laxative.

*Elderberry fights colds, flu, and fever.

“For thousands of years, women collected plants from the meadows and woodlands and used them to create healing medicines. They gathered herbs by the waning and waxing of the moon, artfully created preparations, and developed herbal formulas. The best of these remedies were added to the lore, and the wisdom was transferred from mother to daughter, from wise woman to apprentice, for countless generations.

This is the legacy we have inherited. Healers, wise women – these women were the center and source of medicine and healing for their communities. They understood the cycles of the season, the ebb and flow of the universe, the sun, the moon, the stars, and the natural rhythms of the bodies.”
